Just a note: I lost (wrecked, broke, ruined, fried) my hard drive and had to have a complete factory restore. Restore is not really a true term for this process since nothing was restored but a new hard drive was installed. As such, please forgive me if I repeat pages that have been posted in the past. I lost my TO BLOG folder along with A LOT of other stuff. Thank goodness the machine had flickered a bit a couple of weeks before it died at which time I backed up like crazy. I do have Crash Plan, but it had not copied over half of my items. Alas.
The half-full glass …….. we really are kind of lucky in the whole deal. We looked at our Costco receipt for the computer and it stated that the warranty expired two years from date of purchase. The date of purchase was July 29 and the computer had black error screens August 1. We called Costco just to see what actions we might take to recover data. They informed us that even though the receipt stated that the warranty expired July 29, Costco went by the shipping date and that we actually had 9 more days on it. Yay, rah, Costco.
